Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer handles 10-200W incandescent or halogen loads and 5-150W LED loads behind a matt white screwless faceplate with matching dimmer caps. The dimmer switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes via the front control knob, allowing compatibility with both modern LED drivers and older resistive or inductive lamp types.

Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms where two separate lighting circuits need independent dimming control from a single wall plate, the 2-way configuration allows the dimmer to be paired with a remote switch elsewhere in the room for multi-location control. The rotary dimming knobs provide precise level adjustment, while a push action on each knob toggles the circuit on or off. The front control knob on each gang allows mode switching, trimming the minimum brightness level, and resetting the dimmer without removing the faceplate.

The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The matt white finish provides a neutral backdrop that works across both traditional and contemporary interiors without drawing attention. Built-in overload and overheat protection shut the dimmer down if the connected load exceeds rated capacity or if internal temperature rises beyond safe limits, while an inrush current limiter prevents nuisance tripping when switching on high-capacitance LED drivers.

The dimmer requires a minimum 25mm back box depth and is pre-set to trailing-edge mode on arrival, which suits most dimmable LED bulbs and drivers. For best performance, avoid mixing different lamp brands or wattages on the same circuit, as mismatched electrical characteristics can cause flicker or uneven dimming response.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?

Trailing-edge mode suits most modern dimmable LED bulbs and electronic transformers by cutting the trailing edge of the AC waveform. Leading-edge mode suits older incandescent, halogen and magnetic transformer loads by cutting the leading edge. The dimmer ships pre-set to trailing-edge and can be switched to leading-edge via the front control knob if needed.

Can I mix LED and halogen bulbs on the same gang?

Not recommended. Mixing lamp types or brands on a single circuit often causes flicker, buzzing or uneven dimming because different bulbs have different electrical characteristics. Use the same lamp type, brand and wattage across all fittings controlled by one gang for stable performance.

What does 2-way mean?

2-way allows the dimmer to be paired with a remote 2-way switch elsewhere in the room, so you can turn the lights on or off from multiple locations. Dimming level is controlled only from the main dimmer plate, not from the remote switch.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 25mm back box depth is needed. The dimmer module itself has a 21.3mm recessed depth, and the screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm projection from the wall once fitted.
