Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang 2-way leading edge dimmer controls two separate lighting circuits from one plate, supporting 40-400W incandescent loads or 3-100W LED loads per gang. The leading edge phase-control dimming works by chopping the front of the AC waveform, making it compatible with most traditional incandescent, halogen and many dimmable LED lamps. Push on/off operation on each dimmer knob provides instant switching, while rotating the knob controls brightness.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the dimmer fits a standard 35mm minimum back box depth and suits lounge, dining and bedroom locations where two separate lighting zones need dimming from a single point. The 2-way configuration allows the dimmer to work in circuits with a second switch controlling the same light from another location, such as at opposite ends of a hallway or at the top and bottom of stairs.

The white thermoset resin plate has a gently rounded edge profile that sits 7mm proud of the wall, giving a softer visual transition than sharp-edged plates. The plate carries anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface in kitchens, bathrooms and other high-touch areas. The 86mm square format matches standard UK switch and socket sizing.

Compatibility with dimmable LED lamps varies by lamp manufacturer and driver design. Always verify that your LED lamps are marked as compatible with leading edge dimmers before connecting to avoid flicker or limited dimming range.

Frequently Asked

What does 2-way mean?

2-way means the dimmer can work in a circuit with a second switch controlling the same light from another location. This is common in hallways, staircases and large rooms where you need to control one light from two different points. If you only need to control the light from one location, this dimmer will still work — just ignore the additional terminal.

Will this work with my LED bulbs?

The dimmer supports 3-100W LED loads using leading edge phase-control dimming. Compatibility depends on whether your LED bulbs are marked as dimmable and specifically compatible with leading edge dimmers. Some LED lamps require trailing edge dimmers instead. Check the lamp packaging or contact the lamp manufacturer before connecting to avoid flicker or limited dimming range.

What back box depth is needed?

A 35mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The plate adds 7mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What are the anti-microbial properties?

The white thermoset resin plate has been treated with an anti-microbial coating that reduces bacterial growth on the surface. This is tested to ISO 22196:2011 and is particularly useful in kitchens, bathrooms and other high-touch areas where hygiene matters.
