Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer controls two separate lighting circuits from a single faceplate, handling 10-200W incandescent or halogen loads per gang, or 5-150W LED loads per gang. The dimmer is pre-set in trailing-edge mode and can be switched to leading-edge mode from the front panel using the control knob, making it compatible with most dimmable LED, halogen and incandescent bulbs.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation in living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms where two separate lighting zones need independent dimming control from one location, the dimmer fits standard UK 25mm back boxes. Each gang operates via a push on/off action and rotary dimming knob, with the control caps and faceplate finished in brushed chrome with rounded edges. The 2-way wiring allows the same lights to be controlled from two different switch positions.

The dimmer includes overload and overheat protection, plus an integrated inrush current limiter to handle the initial power draw when LED circuits are switched on. The faceplate is premium-grade steel with a brushed finish that resists fingerprints and sits flush to the wall with 7.5mm projection. Mode switching, trimming adjustments and factory reset are all accessible from the front panel without removing the faceplate, allowing the dimmer to be reconfigured if bulb types are changed later.

The dimmer carries an IP20 rating for indoor dry locations and requires an earth terminal connection. It is designed for dimmable lamps only and should not be used with mixed lamp brands or wattages within the same fitting, as this can cause flicker or premature failure.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge mode?

Trailing-edge mode (pre-set default) works with most dimmable LED bulbs and lower-wattage loads. Leading-edge mode suits older halogen and incandescent lamps, and some higher-wattage LED drivers. Mode switching is done from the front panel using the control knob without removing the faceplate.

Can I mix LED and halogen bulbs on the same gang?

No. Each gang should control a single lamp type only. Mixing lamp technologies or brands on the same circuit can cause flicker, buzzing or uneven dimming. If you need to control different lamp types, use separate gangs or separate dimmers.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The faceplate projects 7.5mm from the wall once fitted, giving an overall installed depth of approximately 32.5mm from the back of the box to the front of the control caps.

How do I adjust the minimum brightness level?

The dimmer includes a trim function accessible from the front panel. Rotate the control knob to the minimum dim position, then press and hold to adjust the lower threshold until flicker stops. This setting is saved and allows the dimmer to match the minimum dimming capability of your specific bulbs.
