Description

The Knightsbridge M6300N is a 13A metal clad switched fused spur with neon indicator, built from powder-coated premium-grade steel. The unit combines the fused spur, rocker switch and red neon indicator into an 82mm square faceplate with visible fixing screws, designed for installation where surface-mounted wiring or industrial/commercial environments require robust metal construction rather than standard plastic faceplates.

Fused spurs isolate fixed appliances — boilers, extractor fans, immersion heaters, electric showers — from the ring main, allowing the appliance to be switched off and protected by a cartridge fuse without needing a plug socket. The neon indicator glows red when the switch is in the on position, providing visual confirmation that power is flowing to the connected appliance. The unit is supplied complete with a matching metal back box, so no separate back box purchase is needed for installation onto masonry or plasterboard surfaces.

The powder-coated silver finish gives corrosion resistance and durability in garages, utility rooms, plant rooms and light industrial settings where plastic accessories might crack or discolour. The 45mm projection from the wall accommodates cable entry from the rear or via side knockouts in the metal back box. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 and carries a 25-year warranty, reflecting Knightsbridge's confidence in the construction quality of its metal clad range.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between a fused spur and a socket?

A fused spur isolates a fixed appliance from the ring main and protects it with a cartridge fuse. Unlike a socket, you wire the appliance directly into the spur's terminals rather than using a plug. Fused spurs are used for boilers, extractor fans, immersion heaters and other appliances that don't need to be unplugged.

Is a back box included?

Yes. The M6300N is supplied complete with a matching metal back box, so you don't need to purchase one separately. The back box has cable entry knockouts on the sides and rear.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon glows when the rocker switch is in the on position, confirming that power is flowing to the connected appliance. The neon draws minimal current and operates on the mains voltage.

Can this be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating means the unit is suitable for indoor dry locations only. For outdoor or damp environments, you need an IP-rated weatherproof enclosure or outdoor fused spur rated IP54 or higher.
