13A 1 Gang SP Switched Socket Dual USB-A & USB-C - Matt White Screwless (White Insert)

The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang SP switched socket combines a single 13A outlet with one USB-A and one USB-C charging port behind a matt white screwless faceplate with a white insert. The USB-C port delivers up to 18W on its own and up to 20W total output (5V DC, 4.0A shared) when both ports are charging simultaneously, supporting fast-charge protocols including PD (Power Delivery) and QC (Quick Charge).

Designed for residential kitchens, bedrooms, offices and hospitality installations where both mains power and USB charging are needed at a single wall point, the socket fits a 35mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This means there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The matt white finish and white insert create a monochrome surface that blends with painted walls and light-toned interiors.

The socket is built to Over Voltage Category III (OVC III) standards for domestic and commercial use, with built-in protection against overload, overheating and excessive current. Adaptive charging automatically selects the correct voltage for the connected device, and the charger draws just 0.1W in standby mode to meet ErP energy efficiency requirements. The FASTCHARGE technology can take compatible devices from 0-50% charge in approximately 30 minutes, then reverts to standard charging parameters above 70% to preserve long-term battery health. A 10mm spacer is included to simplify fitting in various back box configurations.

What back box depth is required?

A 35mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. A 10mm spacer is included to accommodate different back box configurations. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What's the difference between SP and DP switching?

SP (single pole) switching isolates the live line only when the socket is switched off. DP (dual pole) switching isolates both live and neutral. For most domestic applications SP switching is sufficient, but DP is preferred for high-draw appliances or commercial installations.

What's the USB charging output?

The USB-C port provides up to 18W on its own. When both USB-A and USB-C ports are charging simultaneously, the total output is 20W at 5V DC (4.0A shared). The socket supports PD and QC fast-charge protocols and uses adaptive charging to select the correct voltage for each device.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
