The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang DP switched socket features a polished brass screwless faceplate with a black insert and matching polished brass rocker switch. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This means there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet.

The polished brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that pairs well with traditional, classical and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The black insert behind the brass faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to the outlet aperture. A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What does DP (double pole) switching mean?

DP switching isolates both the live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, rather than just the live line as in single-pole switches. This provides an extra safety margin for appliances that draw high current or remain plugged in when not in use.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
