Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang DP switched socket features a matt black rounded edge faceplate with a black insert and matching metal rocker switch. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is turned off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers and kettles.

Designed for residential, hospitality and commercial installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses screw terminals for connection. The rounded edge profile softens the faceplate geometry compared to flat or squared designs, making the socket suitable for period properties, boutique hotel rooms and residential interiors where sharp angles are less appropriate. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W.

The matt black finish is applied to premium-grade steel, giving the faceplate a low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints and minimises reflections under artificial light. The black insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a clean edge to the outlet aperture. The built-in gasket reduces dust ingress and provides a flush seal against the wall when fitted. The socket carries BS 1363:2 certification and a 25-year manufacturer warranty.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds 7.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total projection of approximately 32-33mm from the wall surface.

What does double-pole switching mean?

Double-pole (DP) switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the socket is switched off, rather than just the live. This provides additional safety when powering down high-draw appliances or when isolating the socket for maintenance.

Is the socket suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the socket is suitable for dry indoor locations only. Bathrooms require sockets with higher IP ratings (typically IP44 or above) and specific zone placement to comply with UK wiring regulations.

What other finishes are available in this rounded edge range?

Knightsbridge produces this rounded edge socket design in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
