Description

The UL7-12 is a 12V 7Ah sealed lead acid VRLA (valve-regulated lead acid) battery designed as backup power for fire alarm control panels, security systems, emergency lighting and uninterruptible power supplies. The battery measures 150mm long, 70mm wide and 100mm high, with spade terminals on the top face for quick connection and disconnection.

Used as standby power in fire alarm systems including the ESP MAG2, MAG2P, MAG4, MAG4P and the EVBPSBB battery supply board, the UL7-12 charges on mains power and automatically switches to battery supply when mains fails. The valve-regulated design allows gas recombination inside the sealed case, making the battery maintenance-free with no need to top up electrolyte or vent hydrogen during normal operation.

The case is a two-piece grey ABS shell with a blue lid and spade terminals under a clear plastic protective cap. The non-spillable construction allows the battery to be mounted in any orientation except fully inverted, and the sealed design prevents acid leakage even if the case is cracked. At 2.4kg gross weight the battery provides substantial energy density for a compact footprint, fitting inside standard alarm panel enclosures and small battery cabinets.

Charge parameters are marked on the case label: cycle use at 14.4-16.0V, standby use at 13.5-13.8V, with initial current capped below 2.1A. The battery carries CE marking and complies with relevant EN standards for sealed lead acid cells used in fire and security applications.

Frequently Asked

What systems is this battery compatible with?

The UL7-12 is the specified backup battery for ESP fire alarm control panels including MAG2, MAG2P, MAG4, MAG4P and the EVBPSBB battery supply board. It also suits other 12V systems requiring 7Ah standby capacity, including burglar alarms, access control panels and small UPS units.

What's the difference between cycle use and standby use charge voltages?

Cycle use (14.4-16.0V) is for applications where the battery regularly discharges and recharges, such as solar or mobility use. Standby use (13.5-13.8V) is for backup power applications where the battery sits on float charge and only discharges during mains failure — this is the correct mode for fire alarm and security systems.

How long does the battery last?

Service life depends on ambient temperature, depth of discharge and charge regime. In typical alarm panel standby use at 20°C with float charging, expect 3-5 years before capacity drops below 80% of rated. Higher temperatures and frequent deep discharges reduce lifespan.

Can the battery be transported by post?

Yes. Sealed lead acid VRLA batteries are classified as non-spillable and can be shipped via standard parcel carriers when properly packaged. The battery must be protected against short circuit during transit by covering the spade terminals.
