Description

The ESP CAB-10 is a 10-metre CCTV camera cable combining a BNC video connector and a DC power lead within a single black sheath. Both the BNC video plug and the DC power connector are pre-terminated at each end, so the cable can be run directly from a DVR or monitor to an analogue security camera without requiring separate video and power cable runs.

Designed for domestic and commercial analogue CCTV installations, the combined cable simplifies routing through wall cavities, ceiling voids and trunking by reducing the number of individual cables needed per camera. The 10m length suits cameras positioned on ground-floor perimeters, above doorways, or in small-to-medium commercial spaces where the recorder or power supply is within 10 metres of the camera location. The BNC connectors are compatible with standard analogue CCTV cameras and DVRs using composite video over coaxial cable.

The cable sheath is black PVC, which blends against dark exterior walls and interior mounting surfaces without drawing attention to the cable run. The outer diameter is approximately 6mm, allowing the cable to fit through standard cable entry grommets and glands. The coiled packaging makes storage and handling easier during installation compared to loose-coiled cable, and the pre-terminated ends mean no crimping or soldering is required on site.

The CAB-10 is designed for analogue CCTV cameras using composite video over BNC coaxial connection and DC power. It is not compatible with IP network cameras, which use Ethernet cable instead of BNC video connections.

Can multiple cables be joined to extend the run beyond 10 metres?

BNC video cables can be extended using BNC barrel connectors and DC power splitters, but signal degradation may occur over very long combined runs. For distances beyond 20-30 metres, consider using a higher-grade coaxial cable or moving to an IP camera system with network cable.

Is the cable suitable for outdoor use?

The black PVC sheath provides basic protection against moisture and UV exposure, making it suitable for short exterior runs under eaves or through conduit. For exposed outdoor runs or burial, the cable should be run inside UV-rated conduit or trunking to extend its service life.

What power rating does the DC lead support?

The DC power lead is rated for typical analogue CCTV camera loads, usually 12V DC at up to 500mA-1A depending on the camera model. Check your camera's power requirements before connecting to ensure the cable gauge is appropriate for the load and distance.
