Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 3-gang 2-way switch controls three separate lighting circuits from two different locations behind a black nickel screwless faceplate. Each gang is rated at 10AX (2,300W at 230V), handling both standard domestic lighting and higher loads such as multiple downlights or fluorescent circuits on a single gang.

Designed for multi-room installations where lighting is controlled from two positions — such as staircases, long hallways, or open-plan spaces with entry points at opposite ends — the 2-way switching routes power to either switch location depending on rocker position. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, leaving no visible fixings on the wall once installed. The black nickel finish provides a dark gunmetal tone with subtle reflectivity, pairing well with industrial, contemporary and monochrome interiors.

The switch is built from premium-grade steel with matching metal rockers rather than plastic inserts, giving a consistent finish across the entire faceplate. A built-in gasket behind the cover plate provides dust and moisture resistance to IP20 standard, protecting the terminals and wiring connections in normal indoor environments. The 16mm minimum back box depth makes this compatible with standard UK back boxes without requiring a deep installation.

What's the difference between 2-way and 1-way switching?

A 2-way switch allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two different switch locations — typically used on staircases or in hallways with entry points at opposite ends. A 1-way switch controls the circuit from a single location only.

What back box depth is required?

A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without re-wiring.
