Description

The Knightsbridge SN8300 is a 10AX 2-way pull cord switch in white thermoset resin with a 76mm diameter ceiling rose and approximately 1.7m white braided pull cord. The 2-way switching allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two locations, making it useful in larger bathrooms or utility rooms where a second switch point is needed at the opposite end of the room.

Designed for bathrooms, en-suites, utility rooms and walk-in wardrobes where ceiling-mounted switching is preferred over wall-mounted switches, the pull cord sits within reach from the bath or shower while keeping electrical contacts above the spray zone. The IP20 rating means the switch itself is suitable for dry zones in bathrooms (Zone 3 and outside zones) but not within reach of direct water spray. The 10AX rating handles lighting loads up to 2,300W on 230V mains, which accommodates most residential bathroom and utility lighting circuits.

The thermoset resin construction provides durability under daily use and resists discolouration better than ABS plastic in humid environments. The white finish pairs with standard white bathroom ceilings, allowing the switch to sit unobtrusively. The pull cord includes a matching white tip that acts as a pull handle. The switch is certified to EN 60669-1 and carries a 25-year warranty from Knightsbridge.

Frequently Asked

Can this be used in a bathroom shower area?

The IP20 rating means the switch is suitable for dry bathroom zones (Zone 3 and outside) but not within direct reach of water spray from a shower or bath. Position the switch on the ceiling outside the shower enclosure or at least 600mm away from the bath edge to comply with wiring regulations.

What does 2-way switching mean?

2-way switching allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch points. In a bathroom, this might mean a pull cord switch near the shower and a wall switch near the door, where either switch can turn the lights on or off independently.

What lighting load can it handle?

The 10AX rating handles lighting loads up to 2,300W on 230V mains. This accommodates most residential bathroom lighting circuits including multiple LED downlights, strip lights or a combination of fittings.

How is the pull cord length adjusted?

The cord is supplied at approximately 1.7m and can be shortened by untying the knot at the ceiling rose, cutting to the desired length, and re-knotting. If a longer cord is needed, replacement cords are available separately from electrical wholesalers.
