Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang intermediate switch provides switching capability for three-point lighting circuits, commonly used in staircases, long hallways and landings where a single lighting circuit is controlled from three separate locations. The switch features a brushed chrome screwless faceplate that clips onto a separate mounting frame, eliminating visible fixings on the wall once installed.

Rated at 10AX on 230V 50Hz mains, the switch handles lighting loads up to 2,300W. The switch mechanism is housed behind a premium-grade steel faceplate with a brushed chrome finish that provides a low-sheen metallic surface resistant to fingerprints and minor surface marks. The screwless cover plate measures 87.5mm square with a 4.3mm projection from the wall, fitting a minimum 16mm mounting box depth.

An intermediate switch differs from a standard two-way switch in that it reverses the switching state when used between two two-way switches in a three-point circuit. The Knightsbridge mechanism includes an integral gasket for moisture resistance and an earth terminal for grounding metal faceplates. The IP20 rating limits this switch to dry indoor use only — it is not rated for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor installation.

What back box depth is required?

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
