Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang 2-way switch provides single-circuit lighting control from two locations, behind a polished chrome screwless faceplate with matching chrome rocker. The 10AX rating handles up to 2,300W on a 230V circuit, suitable for standard domestic lighting loads including multiple downlights or higher-wattage halogen circuits.
Designed for rooms with two entry points where lights need control from both locations, this 2-way switch fits hallways, staircases, bedrooms with door and bedside switching, and living rooms with front and rear access. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The 16mm minimum back box depth makes it compatible with shallow installation depths where standard 25mm boxes will not fit.
The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-like reflective surface that pairs with contemporary bathrooms, kitchens and commercial interiors requiring a high-gloss metallic accent. The premium-grade steel construction gives durability beyond basic plastic switches, with a 25-year warranty backing the mechanical and electrical components. The built-in gasket seals the faceplate to the wall surface, reducing dust ingress behind the plate.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
The switch requires a 16mm minimum back box depth. This is shallower than the standard 25mm depth, making it suitable for installations where back box space is limited, such as on dot-and-dab plasterboard or shallow partition walls.
What does 2-way switching mean?
A 2-way switch allows a single light circuit to be controlled from two different switch locations. Common installations include hallway lights controlled from both ends, staircase lighting with switches at top and bottom, or bedroom lights with door and bedside control.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The polished chrome cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without disconnecting any wiring.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this switch style in multiple finishes including brushed chrome, matt black, antique brass, polished brass and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
