Description

The Knightsbridge 100A 5-way SP connector block is a single-pole distribution block designed for L2 (live) circuits in three-phase electrical installations. Built from black polycarbonate, it accepts up to five conductors ranging from 2.5mm² to 35mm², each secured using Allen key terminals that provide a consistent torque connection without crushing the conductor.

Used in consumer units, distribution boards and sub-main installations where a single live phase needs splitting to multiple outgoing circuits, the block carries an IP2XD rating, meaning unused terminal entries are protected by internal shutters that prevent accidental contact with live parts. The interlocking body design allows multiple blocks to be mounted side-by-side on DIN rail or directly onto panel surfaces, creating compact distribution arrays for neutral, earth and multiple live phases.

The polycarbonate construction provides impact resistance and arc tracking resistance superior to standard thermoplastic. At 64mm high, 51mm wide and 41mm deep, the block fits into tight panel spaces while still accommodating large cross-section cables. The Allen key terminal design requires a hex key for installation and removal, reducing the chance of accidental loosening compared to flathead or Phillips screw terminals.

Frequently Asked

What conductor sizes does it accept?

The block accepts conductors from 2.5mm² up to 35mm² per terminal. This range covers most domestic and light commercial cable sizes, from 2.5mm² radial circuits up to 35mm² sub-main tails.

What does IP2XD mean?

IP2XD indicates that unused terminal entries are protected by shutters preventing contact with a 12.5mm test probe, and that the block carries additional protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm. The shutters close automatically when a conductor is removed.

Can multiple blocks be joined together?

Yes. The interlocking body design allows blocks to be mounted side-by-side, typically on DIN rail or panel surfaces, to create a distribution array for neutral, earth and multiple live phases in three-phase installations.

What hex key size is needed for the terminals?

Knightsbridge connector blocks of this type typically use a 4mm or 5mm Allen key. The exact size is embossed on the terminal face. Check the specification sheet in the Downloads tab for confirmation.
