Description

This Knightsbridge 1-way trailing edge pull cord dimmer switch handles 10-150W incandescent loads or 5-100W LED loads, with dimming control accessed by pulling a 1.5m braided cord. The pull-to-switch, hold-to-dim operation allows on/off switching and dimming from the same action without needing wall access, making it suitable for ceiling pendants, bedside lighting, and loft conversions where a wall switch is impractical.

The trailing edge dimming circuit is designed for compatibility with modern dimmable LED bulbs, reducing the flicker and buzz that can occur with leading-edge dimmers. An integrated potentiometer on the unit allows adjustment of the dimming curve to match the specific LED driver characteristics, giving smoother fade transitions and eliminating residual glow at the lowest setting. The 75mm diameter ceiling rose housing the dimmer sits between the ceiling fixing point and the pendant flex, with the pull cord dropping alongside the cable.

The matt black finish on the steel and ABS housing pairs with industrial, contemporary and monochrome interiors, and the Class II double-insulation rating means no earth connection is required during installation. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations. The unit carries EN 60669-2 certification and a 2-year warranty. Lamp compatibility depends on the bulb manufacturer's dimmer recommendations, so check individual LED product datasheets before pairing with this dimmer.

Frequently Asked

How does the pull cord operation work?

Pull the cord once to switch the light on or off. Pull and hold the cord to begin dimming. The light will fade up or down; release the cord when you reach the desired brightness. The next pull-and-hold reverses the dimming direction.

What's the difference between trailing edge and leading edge dimming?

Trailing edge dimmers are designed for electronic loads like LED and CFL bulbs, reducing the electrical noise and flicker that leading-edge dimmers can cause with these lamp types. Trailing edge is the preferred dimming method for modern dimmable LEDs.

Can I use this with any LED bulb?

Only with dimmable LED bulbs rated for trailing edge dimming. Check the bulb manufacturer's compatibility list before pairing. Non-dimmable LEDs will flicker, buzz or fail to light. The integrated potentiometer can be adjusted to fine-tune performance with specific LED models.

Where is the dimmer installed?

The 75mm ceiling rose sits between the ceiling fixing point and the pendant light flex. The pull cord hangs alongside the pendant cable, allowing dimming control without needing a wall switch. This makes it suitable for loft conversions, bedside pendants and any location where wall switching is impractical.
