This Knightsbridge 1-gang dimmer plate provides a brushed chrome faceplate with rounded edges and a matching brushed chrome metal dimmer cap. The plate itself is unpopulated, meaning it accepts either centre-mounted or offset dimmer modules (sold separately) depending on the specific dimmer mechanism you pair it with.

Designed for residential and commercial installation, the dimmer plate fits standard UK back boxes and provides a neutral metallic backdrop that works across contemporary, traditional and transitional interiors. The rounded edge profile softens the appearance compared to flat-edge plates, reducing the visual 'hard line' where the plate meets the wall. The integrated gasket between plate and wall improves dust resistance and provides a cleaner finish on uneven plaster.

The brushed chrome finish is achieved by directional brushing on premium-grade steel, giving a consistent satin sheen that resists fingerprints better than polished chrome while maintaining a cooler tone than brushed brass or stainless steel. The matching metal dimmer cap sits proud of the faceplate and rotates to adjust light levels once a compatible dimmer module is installed behind it.

Does this plate include the dimmer mechanism?

No. This is an unpopulated faceplate only. You need to purchase a compatible Knightsbridge dimmer module separately (either centre-mounted or offset, depending on the module type). The module clips or screws into the back box, then the faceplate fixes over it.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is required for most dimmer modules. Some high-wattage or trailing-edge dimmers may need a 35mm box — check the specific module's requirements before installation.

Is the rounded edge the same as 'screwless'?

No. This plate is screw-fixed with visible screw fixings at each corner. 'Rounded edge' refers to the profile of the plate edges, which are curved rather than sharp-edged. Screwless versions use a clip-on cover plate and are a separate product line.

Can the brushed finish be cleaned?

Yes. Wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. For fingerprints or smudges, a barely-damp cloth with plain water is acceptable. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, which will scratch the brushed finish.
