Description
The Knightsbridge 1-gang dimmer plate is an 86mm square white thermoset resin faceplate with a gently contoured 7mm profile and rounded edges, designed to accept a standard rotary dimmer switch module with the matching dimmer cap included. The plate surface has been treated with an anti-microbial coating tested to ISO 22196:2011, which inhibits bacterial growth on high-touch surfaces.
Designed for residential installation in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and home offices where dimmed lighting control is needed, the plate accepts any standard UK 1-gang dimmer module (sold separately) rated for LED, halogen or incandescent loads. The 7mm projection from the wall is shallower than traditional switch plates, giving a lower-profile appearance on the wall surface. The rounded edge design removes the sharp corners typical of standard flat plates.
The thermoset resin construction resists impact and does not discolour under UV exposure in the same way that thermoplastic plates can. The white finish is moulded through the material rather than surface-applied, so minor surface scratches are less visible than on painted finishes. The plate includes screw cap covers to conceal the fixing screws once installation is complete, and each plate is individually bagged for protection during storage and fitting.

Frequently Asked
Does this plate include the dimmer switch mechanism?
No. This is the faceplate and dimmer cap only. The dimmer switch module itself is sold separately and must be purchased to match the load type (LED, halogen or incandescent) and wattage you need to control.
What does the anti-microbial coating do?
The anti-microbial treatment inhibits bacterial growth on the plate surface. It has been third-party tested to ISO 22196:2011, which is the international standard for measuring anti-microbial activity on plastics and non-porous surfaces. This makes the plate suitable for high-traffic areas or homes where hygiene is a priority.
Is this plate compatible with LED dimming?
The plate itself is compatible with any standard UK 1-gang dimmer module. Whether it will successfully dim LEDs depends on the dimmer module you pair it with — not all rotary dimmers support LED loads. Check the dimmer module specification before purchasing.
What's the difference between thermoset and thermoplastic plates?
Thermoset resin is heat-cured during manufacture and cannot be re-melted, which makes it more resistant to heat distortion and UV discolouration than thermoplastic plates. The white finish is moulded through the material, so surface scratches are less visible than on surface-painted alternatives.
