Description

The Knightsbridge FP8350BC is a 1-gang blanking plate in brushed chrome with a flat plate design, used to cover unused or redundant wall boxes in residential and commercial installations. The plate measures 87.5mm square with a 2.5mm projection from the wall, making it one of the lowest-profile blanking plates in the Knightsbridge range.

Designed for covering back boxes where a switch or socket has been removed or was never fitted, the blanking plate presents a clean finish on finished walls without the aperture of an unused mounting box showing. The built-in gasket between the plate and the wall surface creates a flush seal against the plaster or plasterboard, preventing dust ingress and giving a tighter visual edge than ungasketed alternatives. The plate is fixed using two visible screws at top and bottom.

The brushed chrome finish is achieved through a directional brushing process on premium-grade steel, creating a subtle linear grain that softens reflections and hides fingerprints better than polished chrome. The finish pairs well with brushed chrome switches and sockets in the same Knightsbridge Flat Plate range, allowing for consistent styling across an installation. The plate carries an IP20 rating for indoor dry locations and includes an earth terminal for safe earthing continuity where required by wiring regulations.

What back box does this fit?

The plate fits any standard UK 1-gang 25mm or 35mm back box. The 87.5mm square faceplate covers the full aperture of a single-gang box and the fixing screws align with the lugs inside the box.

Is the gasket removable?

The gasket is built into the rear of the plate. It is not removable but compresses on installation to create a flush seal between the plate and the wall surface, preventing dust entering the back box.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the plate is suitable for indoor dry locations only. It should not be installed in zones 1 or 2 of a bathroom where water spray or splashing may occur. Outside these zones (typically zone 3 and beyond), it is acceptable for covering unused boxes.
