Description

The Knightsbridge CL2191PC is a 1-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer supporting loads of 10-200W for incandescent and halogen, or 5-150W for dimmable LED. The dimmer uses a rotary knob for both on/off control and smooth dimming adjustment, housed behind a polished chrome rounded-edge faceplate with a matching chrome dimmer cap.

Designed for residential lighting control where dimmable bulbs are installed, the unit supports both trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming modes, with trailing-edge set as the factory default for LED compatibility. Mode switching, trim adjustment and reset functions are accessible via a front-facing button on the rotary knob, allowing the dimmer to be reconfigured when bulb types or fittings change without removing the plate. The 2-way configuration supports control from two switch positions, typical for stairwells, hallways and rooms with multiple entry points.

The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-like reflective surface that suits contemporary and classical interiors where chrome hardware is already present. The rounded edge gives a softer profile than square-edge plates and sits closer to the wall at 7.5mm projection. Built-in overload protection, overheat protection and an inrush current limiter prevent damage from transient loads when bulbs are switched on. The dimmer fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and connects via screw terminals with an earth connection required.

Knightsbridge recommends using the dimmer with a single lamp type per circuit — mixing different LED brands, wattages or lamp technologies on the same dimmer can cause flickering, reduced dimming range or incompatibility. Where a lighting circuit contains multiple lamp types, a broader-compatibility dimmer or separate circuits may be needed.

The dimmer supports dimmable LED (5-150W), halogen (10-200W) and incandescent (10-200W) bulbs. It ships pre-set in trailing-edge mode for LED compatibility. Leading-edge mode is accessible via the front button for halogen or incandescent loads. Not all LED bulbs are dimmable — check the bulb packaging before use.

How do I switch between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?

Press and hold the front-facing button on the rotary knob for approximately 3 seconds until the dimmer cycles to the next mode. The mode can be toggled between trailing-edge (for LEDs) and leading-edge (for halogen/incandescent) without removing the faceplate.
