Description

The Knightsbridge FP2191PL is a 1-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer with dual-mode operation, switching between trailing-edge (for LEDs) and leading-edge (for resistive and inductive loads) via a front-facing control knob. The dimmer handles 10-200W resistive loads or 5-150W LED loads, and ships pre-set in trailing-edge mode for immediate LED compatibility. The pearl finish flat plate sits 2.5mm proud of the wall once fitted to a 25mm back box.

Designed for residential dimming of LED, halogen and incandescent lamps, the dimmer suits living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways where lighting levels need adjustment across the day. The 2-way configuration allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch positions, working with a matching 2-way switch at the other end of the circuit. The rotary knob trims the minimum and maximum brightness levels and switches between trailing and leading-edge modes without removing the plate from the wall.

The premium-grade steel construction carries overload protection, overheat protection and an inrush current limiter to protect both the dimmer and the connected lamps during power-on surges. The pearl finish provides a soft metallic sheen that sits between polished chrome and brushed stainless, pairing comfortably with cooler-toned contemporary and transitional interiors. The ultra-flat profile minimises the projection from the wall, giving a cleaner line than traditional raised-plate dimmers.

Knightsbridge recommends using identical lamp brands and wattages across all fittings on the same dimmed circuit to avoid flicker or incompatibility issues between different LED driver designs.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?

Trailing-edge mode suits LED and low-voltage halogen lamps with electronic transformers. Leading-edge mode suits traditional incandescent, halogen and some magnetic-transformer loads. The dimmer ships pre-set in trailing-edge mode. Switch to leading-edge via the front knob if LEDs flicker or fail to dim smoothly.

Can this dimmer handle mixed lamp types on the same circuit?

Knightsbridge does not recommend mixing lamp brands, wattages or technologies (LED with halogen, for example) on the same dimmed circuit. Different LED drivers respond differently to dimming signals, which can cause flicker, buzzing or uneven dimming across fittings.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The flat plate adds 2.5mm of projection from the wall once installed, giving a total depth of 27.5mm from the wall surface to the face of the plate.

How is the minimum brightness adjusted?

The front-facing rotary knob allows trimming of the minimum and maximum brightness levels without removing the plate from the wall. Turn the knob to the desired minimum level, press and hold until the LED indicator confirms the setting has been stored.
