Description

The Knightsbridge CS2191AB is a 1-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer rated for 10-200W incandescent/halogen loads or 5-150W LED loads, fitted behind an antique brass square edge faceplate with a matching rotary dimmer cap. The dimmer automatically switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes depending on the connected load, accommodating most dimmable lamps without manual mode selection.

Designed for residential and hospitality installation where dimming control is needed for single-circuit lighting, the dimmer offers rotary control for brightness and push on/off operation. Trim, reset and mode switching functions are accessible from the front plate without removing the faceplate or accessing wiring. The 2-way wiring configuration allows the dimmer to be paired with a second 2-way switch at a different location to control the same lights from two points.

The antique brass finish provides a warm, aged metallic appearance that pairs well with traditional, classical and period interiors. The square edge design gives a defined geometric edge to the 89mm x 89mm faceplate, contrasting with softer rounded edge alternatives in the Knightsbridge range. The dimmer includes overload protection, overheat protection and an inrush current limiter (ICL) to protect the circuit when lamps are first switched on.

For reliable performance, use the dimmer with a single lamp type and wattage per circuit. Mixed loads (different brands, wattages or technologies on the same dimmer) can cause flickering or reduced lifespan due to varying electrical characteristics between different LED drivers or filament ratings.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming?

Trailing-edge dimming suits LED and low-voltage halogen loads, while leading-edge suits resistive loads like incandescent bulbs. This intelligent dimmer automatically detects the connected load type and switches to the appropriate mode, so no manual configuration is needed.

Can I use this with any dimmable LED bulb?

The dimmer supports most dimmable LEDs between 5-150W total load, but performance depends on the LED driver design. For best results, use LEDs from the same manufacturer and model on a single circuit. Mixed brands or wattages can cause flickering.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The faceplate projects 10.5mm from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of approximately 35.5mm from the wall surface to the back of the back box.

What does 2-way wiring mean?

2-way wiring allows the dimmer to control lights from two locations when paired with a second 2-way switch. This is common in hallways, staircases and larger rooms where you want control from both ends of the space.
