Description
The Knightsbridge 1-gang intelligent dimmer handles 10-200W incandescent or halogen loads, or 5-150W LED loads, with automatic switching between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes to match the lamp type. The brushed chrome screwless faceplate sits flush on a separate steel sub-frame, with a matching chrome rotary control knob at the centre for dimming and mode selection.
Designed for residential installation in living rooms, hallways, kitchens and bedrooms, the dimmer replaces a standard 1-gang 2-way light switch and fits a 25mm minimum back box depth. The 2-way wiring allows control from two switch positions in the same circuit. The front rotary knob adjusts brightness, while a long press switches between trailing-edge mode (default, suited to most LEDs) and leading-edge mode (for older incandescent and some halogen lamps). Overload, overheat and inrush current protection are built in.
The brushed chrome finish provides a low-sheen metallic surface that resists fingerprints and sits comfortably alongside stainless steel appliances, chrome taps and contemporary hardware. The screwless cover plate clips onto the sub-frame without visible fixings, giving a flat, uninterrupted face once installed. The 87.5mm square plate adds 4.3mm projection from the wall. The dimmer works best when all lamps on the circuit are the same brand, wattage and type — mixing different lamp models or wattages can cause flickering or incomplete dimming range.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?
Trailing-edge mode is suited to most LED and low-voltage halogen lamps. Leading-edge mode works better with older incandescent and some mains-voltage halogen lamps. The dimmer ships pre-set to trailing-edge mode. To switch modes, press and hold the rotary knob for several seconds until the mode indicator changes.
Can I use this with mixed lamp types on the same circuit?
No. The dimmer performs best when all lamps on the circuit are the same brand, type and wattage. Mixing different lamp models, wattages or technologies (e.g. LED and halogen together) can cause flickering, incomplete dimming range or premature lamp failure.
What back box depth is needed?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm projection from the wall once fitted.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The brushed chrome cover plate clips onto a separate steel sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the dimmer and re-clipped without re-wiring.
