Description

The Willowmere is a large flush ceiling light, 400mm across with a shallow 160mm projection, which makes it one of the closer fitting options for a low ceiling. The shade is multicoloured Tiffany-style leaded glass in a metal frame, lit by two 60W E27 GLS bulbs; bulbs are supplied separately. Individually cut panels are joined with lead, so the colour sits in the glass and the pattern is readable when the light is off. At 2.2kg it is light for its size. It is Class 1 and requires an earth.

Where a pendant is out of the question, a flush mount takes its place. At 400mm with only 160mm of drop, the Willowmere works in a hallway, on a landing, in a bedroom under sloping eaves or in a living room with a low ceiling, and it clears wardrobe doors and beams that a hanging fitting would catch. Two bulbs give a general level of light for a whole room. It suits cottages, older flats and loft conversions, and anyone who wants pattern overhead without losing head height.

The metal frame holds the glass so the panels take no strain, and the low weight keeps fixing simple. Dust it with a dry soft cloth or brush, use a barely damp cloth on marks, and dry the lead lines afterwards. Solvents, ammonia-based glass sprays and abrasive creams should be kept away.
