Description

The Vellmere large pendant in bright nickel pairs a clear glass shade with a bright, cool metal finish, so it reads clean and simple against a modern scheme. The shade is 250mm in diameter and the drop adjusts from 570mm to 1675mm, which is a long range and useful over an island, a table or a stair void. It takes one E27 screw fit lamp rated at 10W, and the clear glass leaves the lamp visible, so a filament style LED is the choice that looks right. On a compatible dimmer switch with a dimmable lamp it dims down cleanly.

The long drop makes this size a good candidate for pairs over a kitchen island, a row of three along a longer worktop, or a single pendant beside a bed or above a hall table. Because the glass is clear the light spreads out as well as down, giving bright, sparkling illumination for prep and dining rather than a soft wash. Bright nickel keeps company with chrome taps, stainless steel and grey or white cabinetry, so it is an easy ceiling light to match into a kitchen or utility room already fitted out.

The metalwork and ceiling plate are finished in bright nickel and the shade is smooth clear glass with no tint. Keep it right by switching the power off, letting the lamp cool, then dusting the glass with a soft dry cloth and wiping the nickel with a barely damp cloth before drying it, since bright finishes show water marks. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms and needs an earth connection.
