Description
The Knightsbridge T8LB24 is a twin-tube 4ft T8 LED-ready batten measuring 1225mm long, supplied without a ballast or driver. The fitting is pre-wired for direct mains connection to dedicated T8 LED tubes that contain their own internal driver, bypassing the need for a separate ballast. The white pressed steel housing holds two T8 lamp holders spaced 102mm apart, creating a dual-tube linear light suitable for workshops, garages, utility rooms and commercial spaces.
Designed for ceiling or wall mounting in dry indoor locations, the batten provides functional task lighting over workbenches, in storage areas, car parks and retail back-of-house spaces where fluorescent fittings are being replaced with LED. The IP20 rating limits use to dry areas only — this is not suitable for damp rooms, bathrooms or outdoor use. The fitting connects to 230V mains via a standard ceiling rose or junction box, with the T8 LED tubes wired directly to mains voltage without passing through a ballast.
The 1225mm length matches the standard 4ft fluorescent tube footprint, making this a direct retrofit option when upgrading existing fluorescent installations to LED. The pressed steel construction gives the fitting structural rigidity for secure ceiling fixing without sagging over the 1.2m span. The white powder-coated finish reflects light back into the room rather than absorbing it, and integrates cleanly with white ceilings in industrial and commercial settings. LED tubes are sold separately — select T8 LED tubes rated for direct mains connection, not fluorescent tubes which require a ballast.

Frequently Asked
What type of T8 LED tube is required?
This batten requires T8 LED tubes designed for direct mains connection, sometimes called LED-ready or ballast-bypass tubes. These contain an internal driver and connect directly to 230V. Do not use fluorescent tubes or LED tubes designed to work with a ballast — this fitting has no ballast installed.
Can this be used in a garage or damp location?
The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only. It is suitable for standard domestic garages and workshops that are dry, but not for damp garages, outdoor canopies, bathrooms or any location where moisture or water spray is present.
Is the batten dimmable?
Dimming depends on the T8 LED tubes you install. Some T8 LED tubes are dimmable and some are not. If you need dimming, select dimmable T8 LED tubes and pair them with a compatible LED dimmer. The batten itself does not control dimming.
Are the LED tubes included?
No. The batten is supplied as a bare fitting with lamp holders only. T8 LED tubes are sold separately. Two 4ft T8 LED tubes are required for full operation.
