Description
The Sedgehurst floor lamp stands 1550mm tall under a wide 560mm multicoloured Tiffany-style leaded glass shade, on a metal column and base. Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs sit beneath the shade, giving it the output to light a whole corner, and bulbs are supplied separately. The shade is built from individually cut panels joined in lead, so the colour lives in the glass and the pattern is there unlit as well as lit. At 10.6kg it is a substantial piece and sits firmly. It is a Class 1 fitting with an earthed lead.
A floor light like this is furniture as much as lighting. The 560mm shade is the widest in this shape, so give the Sedgehurst room: beside an armchair, at the end of a sofa, in a bay window or filling the corner of a larger sitting room. At 1550mm the shade sits above seated head height, and two bulbs make it a genuine reading corner rather than a soft glow. It suits period houses, high-ceilinged rooms and spaces where a table lamp would look undersized.
The column and base are metal and the shade is leaded glass, joined so the glass takes no structural load. Because of the weight, position it once and leave it, moving it by the column rather than the shade. Dust with a dry soft cloth and use a barely damp cloth on marks, drying straight after so the lead is not left wet. Avoid solvents and abrasive creams. It is not a dimmable lamp. Matching Sedgehurst pendant and table lamp options carry the same glass into the rest of the room.

Frequently Asked
How big is the shade?
560mm across, which is the widest in this shape, on a lamp standing 1550mm tall. Allow it clear floor space rather than tucking it behind a chair.
What is the shade made of?
Multicoloured leaded glass in the Tiffany style, cut into panels and joined with lead, on a metal column and base.
Is it bright enough to read by?
Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs give a proper reading level beside an armchair, which a single-bulb floor light of this width would not.
Can I dim it?
No, it is not a dimming fitting. Choose bulb output to set the level you want in the room.
How stable is it?
At 10.6kg the weight sits low in the metal base. Move it by the column rather than the shade, and set it where it will not be knocked.
How do I clean the leaded glass?
A dry soft cloth for dust and a barely damp cloth for marks, dried immediately. Solvents and abrasive creams will dull the lead lines.
