Description

The Rookhurst linear pendant arranges clear glass rods along a chrome bar, 950mm long and 250mm wide, so the sparkle runs in a line rather than a circle. The overall height adjusts between 450mm and 1650mm, which gives room to hang it low over a table or high in a hall. A single lampholder lights the array from within, and the fitting is dimmable when paired with dimmable bulbs and a matched dimmer switch. It weighs 3.7kg, is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, and as a Class 2 fitting it needs no earth connection at the ceiling.

A linear shape follows a rectangular table or an island far better than a round one, and at 950mm it suits a table for four to six without overhanging the ends. We would leave roughly 700mm to 800mm of clear height above the table top so the glass sits above sightlines. It also works over a long hall console or a run of cabinetry. Because a single lamp does the work behind the rods, the light is decorative first, so we would keep other lighting in the room for everyday tasks.

The bar and ceiling plate are metal in polished chrome, and the rods are clear glass, set close together so each one picks up light from the lamp behind it. Dust between the rods with a soft dry brush or duster, wipe marks with a barely damp cloth, then dry straight away and keep sprays and creams off the chrome. Check the guide supplied with the light for the lamp type and maximum wattage before buying bulbs.
