Description

The Quenford pendant wraps its clear glass shade in fine vertical ribbing, so the surface catches the light and gives more texture than smooth glass while staying just as open. This medium size measures 310mm across, with a drop adjusting from 410mm to 1510mm. A single E27 screw fit lamp rated at 10W lights the shade, and the ribbing takes the raw edge off a visible lamp while still letting a filament style LED show through. Fitted with a dimmable lamp on a compatible dimmer switch, it dims down for evenings without losing the pattern in the glass.

The wider shade suits a single pendant over a round table, a hall or a stair void, and looks good in a pair above a kitchen island. Ribbed glass is the useful middle ground between clear and opal: it spreads the light and softens glare a little, but keeps the sparkle and the sense of space that clear glass gives. That makes it a sensible ceiling light above a table where people sit facing the light, or in a hallway that needs to feel bright rather than cosy. Bright nickel keeps it aligned with cooler rooms where the taps and handles are already chrome.

The shade is ribbed clear glass and the frame and ceiling plate are metal in a bright nickel finish. To clean, switch off at the wall, let the lamp cool, then work along the ribs with a soft dry cloth or a clean dry brush, since dust settles in the grooves, and wipe the nickel with a barely damp cloth before drying it.
