Description

The QTX U-MIC is a dual handheld UHF wireless microphone set built around a single USB receiver. Both handheld transmitters run on two licence-free UK/EU frequencies, 863.2MHz and 864.8MHz, and the receiver mixes them into one output. That keeps things simple for two-person work: two people can talk or sing at once and both come through on a single 3.5mm mono jack. The receiver takes power straight from a USB port or USB power supply, so there is no free-standing or rack-mounted receiver (US: receiver) to find space for.

A plug-through USB connection sits on the receiver, so the USB port you are drawing power from can still be used for other devices, for example a USB flash drive holding MP3 files. The two handheld transmitters each use two AA batteries, and each has a dynamic cardioid capsule with a 50Hz to 15kHz frequency response. Wireless range is up to 50m, which suits most rooms and small stages. A 3.5mm to 6.3mm jack lead is included, so you can connect to a mixer or amplifier that takes a 6.3mm input.

This is a cost-effective set for two-person presentations, conferences and vocal performers. The receiver measures 80 x 34 x 15mm and weighs 25g, so it travels easily. Each transmitter is 240 x 50mm diameter and weighs 178g without a battery. Setup is quick: power the receiver over USB, fit fresh AA batteries in the microphones and plug the output into your sound system. With no mains receiver to power or mount, it is a tidy option where you need two channels without the bulk of a full rack system.
