Description

The QTX U-MIC is a compact UHF wireless microphone set built around a handheld transmitter and a small USB receiver. The receiver plugs straight into a USB power supply or a spare USB port for power, then sends audio out through a 3.5mm mono jack socket. This does away with the need for a free-standing or rack-mounted receiver, so you can run the whole system from a standard USB adaptor. It's a straightforward, cost-effective choice for presentations, conferences and vocal performers who want to keep the setup light.

One handy touch is the plug-through USB connection on the receiver. This keeps the USB port available for other uses, so you can still connect media or another USB device such as a flash MP3 player port while the receiver takes its power. A 3.5mm to 6.3mm (quarter-inch) jack lead is included, letting you feed the output into mixers and amplifiers that use the larger jack socket. The handheld transmitter (US: handheld mic) runs on 2 x AA batteries and works on one of two UK/EU licence-free UHF frequencies.

The transmitter uses a dynamic cardioid capsule with a 50Hz to 15kHz frequency response, so it picks up the voice in front of it and rejects sound from the sides and rear. Wireless range is up to 50m, which covers most rooms and small venues. The transmitter measures 240 x 50mm and weighs 178g without a battery, while the receiver is a slim 80 x 23 x 13mm and just 17g. That small footprint makes the U-MIC easy to pack, carry and set up wherever you need a quick wireless vocal solution.
