Description

This is a 1" throat compression driver built to replace the high frequency horn driver in a range of QTX speaker cabinets. It uses a titanium diaphragm and a 35mm voice coil to handle the top end of the frequency range, covering 800Hz to 20kHz. If your existing HF driver has failed or lost output, this gives you a direct swap rather than replacing the whole cabinet.

The driver fits the QTX QR12 (178.212UK), QR15 (178.213UK), QS12 (178.562UK), QS12A (178.565UK), QS15 (178.568UK) and QS15A (178.569UK). It handles 35W RMS with a maximum power of 70W, so it matches the ratings of the horns already used in those cabinets. The 1" throat is a common fitting, which makes installation straightforward for anyone comfortable working inside a speaker enclosure.

At 63mm deep and 100mm in diameter, it sits behind the horn flare in the same space as the original part. The whole unit weighs 1.07kg. A compression driver, sometimes called a compression tweeter, works by pushing sound through a narrow throat and out through the horn, which gives it the efficiency needed for live sound and PA use. Keep the driver terminals clean and match the wiring polarity of the part you remove, and you should get the same performance the cabinet had when new.
