Description

The NU-X NPK-10 is a digital grand piano built around 88 triple-sensor hammer-action keys with escapement, packed into a compact format that suits home, studio or stage. Sound comes through the base-mounted stereo speakers, or you can plug in via one of the two headphone outputs under the keyboard for quiet practice. With 189-note polyphony you can split the keyboard or layer two sounds at once, drawing on a choice of 12 internal voices.

An inbuilt DSP section adds reverb, delay and chorus, and you can save these alongside your sound settings in two user memory banks. The note keys double as edit keys, which keeps the control surface clean and uncluttered. For practice, there are 12 drum patterns in the accompaniment section plus a record-loop function, along with 20 internal demo songs. Five key sensitivity settings let you match the response to your playing, while octave up, octave down and -6 to +5 semitone transpose give you room to adjust pitch.

USB type B connects the piano to a computer to send and receive MIDI for recording and playback. MIDI and audio can also travel wirelessly over Bluetooth, which works with the free Piano Mate app (from www.nuxefx.com) for self-tuition and exercises. A damper pedal is included and connects to the 6.3mm pedal jack on the rear. An Aux input takes backing tracks, and the stereo line outputs feed a PA system, monitors or a recording device. At 12.2kg it stays easy to move.

In the US a piano's damper pedal is often called the sustain pedal; both refer to the same thing here.
