Description

The NU-X NFB-2 Lacerate is a mini boost pedal built around a Dual FET circuit design, aiming for a tube-like response from a transistor-based unit. Despite the complex circuitry inside, the controls stay simple: one control knob, two boost options and two bypass modes. That keeps setup quick whether you're using it at home or as the first pedal (stompbox) in your signal chain.

Clean mode boosts the signal without colouring the sound, so you get more volume while keeping your tone intact. That makes it one of the cleaner clean boosts around. Hold the footswitch for a second to engage Crank mode, which adds a fatter, harmonically rich overdrive tone. Where most boost pedals top out around +20dB, Crank mode gives you up to +35dB. An integrated voltage doubler automatically takes the 9V supply up to 18V, giving you more headroom and dynamic range.

You can run the pedal as true bypass or buffer bypass. A buffer at the start of your chain helps keep your signal strong, and the higher 18V running voltage improves the headroom for that buffer. Switch between bypass modes by holding the footswitch while powering on. The chassis is a strong, lightweight aluminium die-cast, and the glow knobs stay visible on dark stages. It needs a 9V centre-negative DC supply with 75mA current draw, which isn't included. Compatible power supply code 173.290UK.

Frequently Asked

Does the NFB-2 Lacerate come with a power supply?

No. It requires a 9V centre-negative DC power supply with a 75mA current draw, which isn't supplied. Compatible power supply 173.290UK works with it.

What is the difference between Clean and Crank boost?

Clean mode boosts volume without colouring your tone. Crank mode adds a fatter, harmonically rich overdrive tone and gives up to +35dB, compared to around +20dB on most boost pedals.

How much boost does Crank mode give?

Crank mode provides up to +35dB, which is well above the +20dB maximum you'll find on many standard boost pedals.

Can I use it as a buffer?

Yes. The pedal has a selectable buffer bypass alongside true bypass. Change the mode by turning on the power while holding the footswitch.

Why does it run at 18V?

An integrated voltage doubler automatically converts the 9V supply to 18V, giving you more headroom and better dynamic range.

How do I switch between boost modes?

Press the footswitch for Clean boost, or hold it down for about one second to engage the second stage and Crank boost.
