Description

The Neutrik NYS373-2 is an RCA phono plug with an all-metal body and a red colour-coded identification band around the cable entry. The plug terminates coaxial audio cable using a solder connection for the signal pin and cable shield, providing a secure, low-resistance contact for unbalanced stereo and composite video signals.

Designed for professional audio installation, studio wiring and custom cable assembly, the NYS373-2 is commonly paired with a black-banded NYS373 to create left-right stereo pairs where the red band marks the right channel. The metal housing provides RF shielding and mechanical durability, while the rear cable clamp grips the outer jacket to prevent strain on the solder joints.

The plug accepts coaxial cable with conductor diameters up to approximately 6mm and uses a standard RCA form factor compatible with consumer and pro-audio RCA sockets. The solder cup inside the plug requires basic soldering skills and tools — the signal pin and shield solder points are clearly separated to prevent bridging during assembly.

Frequently Asked

What cable diameter does it accept?

The NYS373-2 accepts coaxial audio cable with an outer diameter up to approximately 6mm. Check the cable specification before purchase to ensure compatibility with the rear cable clamp.

Is this a solder or crimp termination?

Solder termination. The signal pin and cable shield each have dedicated solder points inside the plug body. Basic soldering tools and skills are required for assembly.

What does the red band indicate?

The red band is for channel identification in stereo installations. By convention, red marks the right channel when paired with a black-banded plug (Neutrik NYS373) for the left channel.

Is it suitable for digital coaxial audio?

Yes. The NYS373-2 works with both analogue stereo signals and digital coaxial audio (S/PDIF) provided the cable impedance matches the application requirement, typically 75 ohms for digital.
