Description

The Neutrik NC3MXX is a 3-pole XLR male line plug with a nickel-plated metal shell, chuck-type strain relief and a flexible rubber boot. The connector accepts cables up to 8mm in diameter and uses solder contacts for termination, with silver-plated brass pins for low-resistance connection.

Designed for professional audio applications where a male XLR connector is needed on a microphone cable, mixer output, or equipment lead, the NC3MXX is the standard Neutrik male plug found in touring, studio, installation and broadcast audio work. The chuck-type strain relief grips the cable jacket without requiring a separate clamp, and the rubber boot flexes to protect the cable exit point from repeated bending.

The metal shell is nickel-plated for corrosion resistance and dimensional stability under handling and thermal cycling. The connector meets IEC 61076-2-103 and is compatible with any standard 3-pole XLR female socket including Neutrik's own NC3FXX and chassis-mount equivalents. The solder contacts accept wire gauges from 0.14mm² to 1.5mm², covering the majority of microphone and line-level cable constructions.

Frequently Asked

What cable diameter does it accept?

The chuck-type strain relief and rubber boot accommodate cables from approximately 3.5mm to 8mm outer diameter. Most standard microphone cables (2-core screened, 6-7mm diameter) fit comfortably within this range.

Are the contacts solder or crimp?

The NC3MXX uses solder contacts. The pins are silver-plated brass and accept wire from 0.14mm² to 1.5mm² cross-section. Crimp-contact versions exist under different Neutrik part numbers.

Is it compatible with all XLR sockets?

Yes. The NC3MXX meets IEC 61076-2-103 and mates with any standard 3-pole XLR female socket, including Neutrik, Amphenol, Switchcraft and generic equivalents.

What's the difference between NC3MXX and NC3MX?

The NC3MXX uses a nickel shell. The NC3MX uses a black finish. Internally they are identical in contact arrangement and cable capacity.
