The Murlwick is a compact outdoor wall light with an industrial cast to it: a textured black body, clear glass panes and a squared lantern shape that puts the lamp on show. It stands 344mm high and 103mm wide with a 167mm projection, small enough to flank a front door or a back gate without crowding the frame, and it weighs only 0.8kg. The IP44 rating means it is built to shrug off splashing rain, so this exterior wall light can go on an open wall as well as under a porch. One E27 lamp rated up to 10W in LED sits behind the glass.

Because the glass is clear, the lamp you choose becomes part of the look. A decorative filament LED gives that warm, visible glow the industrial shape is asking for, while a plain opal lamp keeps things simpler and cuts glare if the fitting sits at eye level. Use a pair either side of a front door for symmetry, one above a back door for a working light, or a run along a garden wall, a garage or a side passage where you want the path marked out after dark. The textured black finish disappears against dark brick and stands out cleanly on render or pale stone.

The frame is metal in a textured black finish, chosen because texture hides the water marks and dust that a smooth outdoor finish shows up, and the panes are clear glass. Wipe it down with a damp cloth and dry it off a couple of times a year, more often near the coast, and keep abrasive pads and solvent cleaners away. It is a Class 2 double insulated fitting, so no earth connection is needed, though outdoor wiring should still be done by a qualified electrician.
