Description

The Mercury IMS300-12 is a modified sine wave power inverter that runs 230V mains equipment from a 12V battery or DC power supply. It gives you 300W of output at 230Vac, 50Hz, which makes it handy for camping, commercial vans and lorries, or as a way to draw back-up power from charged batteries during a blackout. It works well with everyday appliances such as TVs, lighting, fans and kettles.

Efficiency runs at over 85%, so more of your battery charge reaches the appliance rather than being lost as heat. A soft start feature helps reduce the chance of the inverter shutting down when you switch on larger inductive loads. There is a built-in 2.1A USB socket for charging phones and other small devices, plus an LED and audible fault indicator so you know straight away if something needs attention.

Protection is built in across the board, covering low and over voltage input, short circuit, overload and overheat conditions. The inverter comes with one pair of 800mm DC power cables and a spare blade fuse. For inductive loads, voltage-sensitive devices or audio equipment, a pure sine wave inverter is a better fit. As a rule, pick an inverter rated for at least three times the device's power draw to allow for current surge, and check you have the correct 12V or 24V version for your supply.

Frequently Asked

What can I run from the IMS300-12?

It suits everyday appliances like TVs, lighting, fans and kettles, as long as the device sits well within the 300W output rating.

Should I use a modified sine wave inverter for all equipment?

No. For inductive loads, voltage-sensitive devices or audio equipment, we recommend a pure sine wave inverter, which is more suitable for those.

How do I size the inverter for my device?

Choose an inverter capable of supplying at least three times the device's rated power. This allows for any current surge and helps avoid damage to the inverter.

Does it have a USB output?

Yes, there is a built-in USB socket rated at 2.1A for charging phones and other small devices.

What is included in the box?

The inverter is supplied with one pair of 800mm DC power cables and a spare blade fuse.

What protection features are built in?

It covers low and over voltage input, short circuit, overload and overheat, with an LED and audible fault indicator to flag problems.
