Description
The Larncombe floor lamp stands 1575mm tall with a 500mm multicoloured Tiffany-style leaded glass shade on a metal column and base. Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs sit under the shade, so it lights a corner properly rather than glowing at it, and bulbs are supplied separately. The shade is built from individually cut glass panels joined in lead, and the colour holds whether the lamp is on or off. At 8.7kg the base gives it a low centre of gravity. It is Class 2, double insulated.
A floor light earns its keep where there is no room for a table. Stand the Larncombe beside an armchair, at the end of a sofa or in the corner of a snug, and it puts light at head height without needing a surface. At 1575mm tall with a 500mm shade it reads as a piece of furniture, so leave it space rather than tucking it behind a chair. Two bulbs give enough output for a reading corner. It suits period sitting rooms, bay windows and larger halls with a seat.
The column and base are metal, the shade leaded glass, and the floor lamp is heavy enough that it does not want to be moved often. Dust the shade with a dry soft cloth and use a barely damp cloth for marks, drying straight after so the lead does not stay wet. Keep solvents and abrasive creams off the glass. The lamp is not dimmable, so choose bulb output with that in mind. Larncombe pendant, table lamp and wall light options use the same glass if you want the pattern repeated.

Frequently Asked
How tall is it and how wide is the shade?
It stands 1575mm high with a 500mm shade, which puts the light above seated head height and spreads it across a corner.
What is the shade made of?
Multicoloured leaded glass in the Tiffany style, cut into panels and joined with lead, on a metal column and base.
Is it bright enough to read by?
Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs give a genuine reading level beside an armchair, rather than the soft glow a single-bulb floor light produces.
Can I dim it?
No, this is not a dimming fitting. Set the level by choosing bulb output to suit the room.
Will it stay steady?
At 8.7kg most of the weight is low down in the metal base, which keeps it stable. Move it by the column rather than the shade.
How do I clean the glass?
A dry soft cloth for dust, a barely damp cloth for marks, then dry straight after. Avoid solvents and abrasive creams, which dull leadwork.
