Description

The Larncombe floor lamp stands 1575mm tall with a 500mm multicoloured Tiffany-style leaded glass shade on a metal column and base. Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs sit under the shade, so it lights a corner properly rather than glowing at it, and bulbs are supplied separately. The shade is built from individually cut glass panels joined in lead, and the colour holds whether the lamp is on or off. At 8.7kg the base gives it a low centre of gravity. It is Class 2, double insulated.

A floor light earns its keep where there is no room for a table. Stand the Larncombe beside an armchair, at the end of a sofa or in the corner of a snug, and it puts light at head height without needing a surface. At 1575mm tall with a 500mm shade it reads as a piece of furniture, so leave it space rather than tucking it behind a chair. Two bulbs give enough output for a reading corner. It suits period sitting rooms, bay windows and larger halls with a seat.

The column and base are metal, the shade leaded glass, and the floor lamp is heavy enough that it does not want to be moved often. Dust the shade with a dry soft cloth and use a barely damp cloth for marks, drying straight after so the lead does not stay wet. Keep solvents and abrasive creams off the glass.
