Description
The Larncombe large flush ceiling light has a domed Tiffany-style shade in multicoloured leaded glass, 500mm across, projecting 265mm from the ceiling. That half metre width makes it one of the broader flush fittings we stock, and the depth of the dome lets the colour show from the side as well as from below. Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs sit inside, supplied separately, and it is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer. It weighs 3.3kg.
This is a main light for a hallway, a landing, a dining room or a bedroom where the ceiling is too low for a pendant but the room still needs a fitting with some scale to it. Flush ceiling lights are sometimes called flush mount or semi-flush lights; either way, the point is full width and full output without a drop. In a period house it gives a hall the weight it wants, and in a plainer room it becomes the thing you notice.
The glass is cut and leaded piece by piece and then soldered into a metal frame, so the colour balance and the leadwork differ slightly between one shade and the next. The mounting plate is metal and the shade releases for bulb changes. It is Class 1, needing an earth at the ceiling, so we would leave installation to a qualified electrician and fix into a joist or a rated anchor. Dust with a dry, soft cloth, wipe marks with a barely damp one, and keep sprays off the solder. Other colourways are available in the Larncombe range.

Frequently Asked
What are its dimensions?
The shade is 500mm in diameter and the fitting projects 265mm from the ceiling. It weighs 3.3kg.
Is this a flush or semi-flush light?
It fixes straight to the ceiling with no drop, so it is a flush ceiling light, also listed as flush mount or semi-flush.
What is the shade made from?
Cut coloured glass, leaded and soldered into a metal frame using the Tiffany-style method.
Which bulbs does it need?
Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs, supplied separately. Use dimmable bulbs with a compatible dimmer if you want to vary the light.
How do I keep it clean?
Dust with a dry, soft cloth and use a barely damp cloth for marks. Avoid glass sprays and abrasives, particularly along the solder lines.
Does it need to be earthed?
Yes. It is Class 1, so it requires an earth connection at the ceiling and should be installed by a qualified electrician.
