Description
The Knightsbridge Torlan is a 5ft (1563mm) non-corrosive LED batten with switchable wattage (26W or 48W), selectable colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5700K), and integrated 3-hour self-test emergency lighting. The entire housing is constructed from anti-corrosive polycarbonate with an opal diffuser, IP65 weatherproof rating, and IK08 impact resistance. Internal switches allow installers to set the desired wattage and colour temperature on-site without stocking multiple SKU variants.
Designed for commercial, industrial and outdoor applications requiring durable task lighting in harsh environments — warehouses, car parks, loading bays, cold stores, exterior canopies and agricultural buildings. The fitting can be surface-mounted directly to ceilings or walls, or suspension-mounted with optional accessory brackets. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, while the IK08 impact rating withstands 5 joule impacts (equivalent to a 1.7kg mass dropped from 300mm).
At 26W the batten delivers 4,045 lumens at 4000K (155 lm/W efficacy), suitable for general area lighting in typical 3-4m ceiling height industrial spaces. At 48W it delivers 7,250 lumens at 4000K (151 lm/W), providing higher output for taller ceilings or where higher illuminance levels are required. The 140° beam angle spreads light broadly across the space rather than concentrating it in a narrow corridor. Stainless steel diffuser clips resist corrosion and retain the diffuser securely even under repeated removal for maintenance.
The emergency function operates in maintained, non-maintained or switched mode (selectable), with a LiFePO4 battery providing 320 lumens for 3 hours during mains failure. The self-test emergency system automatically runs periodic function and duration tests, logging results internally and reducing the need for manual compliance testing. The L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours indicates the LED modules will retain at least 70% of initial output after approximately 7 years of continuous 24/7 operation.

Frequently Asked
How do I select the wattage and colour temperature?
Internal DIP switches inside the housing allow the installer to select either 26W or 48W output, and separately select 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white) or 5700K (cool white/daylight) colour temperature. The settings can be changed after installation by removing the diffuser and accessing the switches on the driver.
What does the IP65 rating mean in practice?
IP65 indicates the fitting is fully dust-tight (no dust ingress) and protected against water jets from any direction. It can be installed outdoors under canopies, in open-sided buildings, car washes, food preparation areas, and other environments where hose-down cleaning or direct rain exposure occurs.
What is the emergency mode and how does it work?
The fitting includes a LiFePO4 battery and self-test emergency system. In maintained mode the LEDs remain on continuously and switch to battery during mains failure. In non-maintained mode the LEDs are normally off and activate only during mains failure. In switched mode the LEDs are controlled by a wall switch but activate on battery during failure. The emergency output is 320 lumens for 3 hours.
Can it be suspended from the ceiling?
The batten can be surface-mounted directly to ceilings or walls using the fixing points in the housing. Suspension mounting requires optional accessory brackets (sold separately). Consult the product manual for specific accessory part numbers.
