Description

The Heronwell XL is a wide dish pendant, 850mm across, with six pebble shaped glass pieces set under a shallow metal dish in gold and bronze. At that diameter it covers a lot of ceiling, and the shallow profile keeps it from feeling bulky, with an overall height running from 470mm to 730mm depending on how you set the drop. Six G9 lamps behind pebble glass throw light down in soft, broken pools rather than one hard circle, so this ceiling light lights a room without flattening it. It weighs 3.9kg.

Extra large fittings need room to breathe, so we would hang this over a round dining table of 1.2 metres or more, in a wide hallway, or centred in a living room with a decent ceiling height. It also suits a kitchen with an island where you want one big fitting instead of a row of small ones. Six lamps give enough output for a main light, and the warm metal tones sit well with timber floors and clay coloured walls.

The dish is metal in gold and bronze with pebble shaped glass beneath it, and six G9 LED lamps of around 3W each supply the light. It is not dimmable, so run it from a standard switch. Dust the dish with a dry, soft cloth, wipe the glass pebbles individually once cool, and keep sprays and polish away from the metal. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, and as a Class 2 fitting it is double insulated with no earth needed.
