Description

The Haldmere single pendant is one grey tinted glass sphere on a matt black stem, at 275mm across the glass and 760mm to 860mm in overall height. The stem is rigid rather than a flex, so the pendant hangs straight and holds its position instead of swinging, and the small adjustment lets you level a row of them. One E27 lampholder takes a 10W LED bulb, and the fitting is dimmable with a matched dimmer switch and dimmable bulbs. It weighs 2.1kg and is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Single pendants earn their keep in threes over a kitchen island, in twos either side of a bed, or on their own above a small table or a reading chair. Because the drop is fixed within a short range, this ceiling light suits standard ceiling heights rather than tall stairwells. The tinted glass keeps the bulb from glaring at seated eye level, which is the usual complaint about pendants over a breakfast bar. Matt black holds its own against pale walls and disappears politely against darker ones.

The stem, ceiling plate and lamp cup are metal in a matt black finish, and the sphere is smoked glass with a grey cast. Wipe the glass with a barely damp cloth and dry it at once, dusting the metal separately with a dry soft cloth and keeping sprays and creams away from the matt paint. It is a Class 2 fitting, so no earth is needed.
