Description

The Farnleigh table lamp brings the same ribbed and frosted glass into a two light fitting for a side table or console. It stands 510mm tall and 190mm wide with a depth of only 120mm, so it takes up very little surface, and the 1.8kg base keeps it steady where a lighter table light would tip. Two G9 lamps at 3W each in LED sit behind glass that is ribbed on the outside and frosted, so you get a warm glow rather than two bright points at eye level. The frame is metal in a satin brass finish, and the fitting is IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The shallow depth is the useful part. It sits on a narrow console in a hallway, a slim bedside table or a windowsill where a round shade would overhang the edge. Two lamps give it more presence than the size suggests, which makes it a good pick for a corner that needs lifting rather than a task light for reading. In a dining room it works on a sideboard; in a study it gives you background light beside a screen without the glare of a directional lamp. The satin brass reads warm against white, greige and darker painted walls alike.

The base and frame are metal in a satin brass finish, matt enough to stay unfussy, and the shades are ribbed, frosted glass. Wipe the glass with a soft damp cloth and dry it straight away to avoid water marks, and use a dry cloth only on the brass; solvent cleaners, metal polish and abrasive pads will spoil both surfaces.
