Description

The Farnleigh wall light carries two ribbed and frosted glass shades on a slim satin brass frame, one pointing up and the arrangement kept tight to the wall. It stands 400mm high and 120mm wide with a projection of 175mm, and at 0.6kg it is one of the lightest fittings in the range to hold and wire. Two G9 lamps at 3W each in LED sit behind the glass, which is ribbed on the outside and frosted so the light comes out soft rather than as visible points. The IP20 rating keeps this wall sconce to dry indoor rooms.

Two lamps in a narrow frame make this a useful wall light for spaces measured in centimetres. It fits between a door frame and a corner, beside a dressing table mirror, or in a pair down a hallway where you want light at eye level rather than overhead. Either side of a bed it gives reading light without taking up table space. The satin brass and ribbed glass combination suits contemporary rooms as well as those with a period frame to work around, and the glass has enough surface interest to look considered during the day with the lamps off.

The frame and backplate are metal in a satin brass finish, and the shades are ribbed, frosted glass. Wipe the glass with a soft damp cloth and dry it at once so it does not water mark, and keep to a dry cloth on the brass; solvents, metal polish and abrasive pads will spoil the finish. It is Class 2 double insulated, so no earth connection is needed, though the wiring itself is a job for a qualified electrician. The Farnleigh range runs the same glass through a semi-flush ceiling light, a nine light pendant, a table lamp and a floor lamp.
