The Elderford medium table lamp stands 555mm tall with a 400mm multicoloured Tiffany-style leaded glass shade on a metal base. Two 60W E27 GLS bulbs sit under the shade, so it gives more light than a single-bulb lamp of the same size, and bulbs are supplied separately. The shade is built from individually cut glass panels joined in lead, and the colour holds its pattern whether the lamp is lit or not. At 3.5kg it has enough weight to sit steady on a side table.

This is a lamp for a room that needs light rather than just a glow. The 400mm shade and twin bulbs make it a good fit on a sideboard, a console or a wide bedside table, and it holds its own in a living room corner where a smaller lamp would disappear. Because the shade is 400mm across, allow around half a metre of clear surface. It suits period homes and rooms with dark joinery, and it reads well against plain walls where the glass can be the colour in the room.

The base and shade fittings are metal, the shade is leaded glass, and both are made to take everyday handling. Lift the lamp by the base, never the shade. Dust with a dry soft cloth, and use a barely damp cloth on the glass when needed, drying it straight after so the lead does not sit wet. Keep solvents and abrasive creams away.
