Description

The Citronic 20m XLR/IEC multicore cable reel carries both power and balanced audio on a single spool, with an IEC mains lead (male to female) and an XLR lead (male to female) wound together on a tubular metal frame. The drum holds both cables on the same core, allowing power and audio to be run to an active speaker, powered mixer or stage box in one deployment rather than laying separate cables.

Designed for live sound reinforcement, event installations, rehearsal spaces and semi-permanent AV setups, the reel suits applications where power and signal need to reach the same destination without tangling separate cable runs. The tubular metal stand gives the reel a stable footprint when unwound, and the integral carry handle folds down for transport. Both the XLR and IEC connections use screened cable to reduce hum and interference over the 20m run.

The XLR sockets sit on the drum face alongside the IEC socket, with trailing tails terminating in XLR and IEC plugs. This configuration means the reel stays at the source end (mixer, power distribution) and the plugs reach the destination (active speaker). The 14mm combined cable diameter makes the wound reel compact enough to store in a van or rack case without taking up excessive space, and the 6kg total weight keeps it portable for single-person setup.

Frequently Asked

What equipment does this connect to?

The reel is designed to run power and audio to active speakers, powered monitors or stage equipment that requires both mains and balanced audio. The IEC connection suits most powered speakers and mixers, while the XLR handles line-level or mic-level balanced signals.

Are the cables screened?

Yes. Both the XLR and IEC leads use screened cable to reduce electromagnetic interference and hum pickup over the 20m length, which is particularly important in live sound environments with stage lighting and mains power nearby.

Can the reel be used with the cable fully wound?

For short durations and low-power devices, yes. For sustained use or higher-draw equipment, unwind the cable fully to prevent heat buildup inside the wound spool, which can occur when running mains current through a coiled conductor.

What's the configuration of the connectors?

The drum face has female IEC and female XLR sockets. The trailing tails (the loose cables) terminate in male IEC and male XLR plugs. This means the reel stays at the source (mixer, power) and the plugs reach the destination (active speaker).
