The Chord RUTESFM rutes give you a middle ground between a full drumstick and a soft mallet. Each rute is built from 12 maple dowels gathered around a foam core, all bound into a plastic grip that keeps everything held together in your hand. This pair is aimed at players who want to bring the volume down without losing the feel of a stick.

The foam centre is the key part here. It softens the impact of the dowels as they meet the drum head or cymbal, so you get a rounder, quieter sound that suits lower volume playing.
