Description

The Chord DHC-12 is a replacement drum head with a coated surface, sized at 12 inches. We stock it as a straightforward option for anyone needing to swap out a worn or damaged head without fuss. It fits standard 12in drums, so you can drop it into a tom or a smaller snare setup as needed.

The coated finish is the main feature here. A coated head (sometimes called a frosted head) gives a warmer, slightly softer tone compared to a clear head, and it takes brush work well thanks to the textured surface. It is designed for use as a batter head, meaning the top head you strike, rather than the resonant head fitted underneath. If you play with brushes or want a bit more attack control, the coating helps.

Fitting is the same as any standard head. Loosen and remove the tension rods and hoop, lift off the old head, seat the DHC-12 on the bearing edge, then refit the hoop and rods before tuning to your preference. We would suggest tuning in a star pattern to keep tension even across the head. Keep a drum key to hand and check the tuning again after the first playing session, as new heads tend to settle in slightly. For 12in drums this is a practical, no-nonsense replacement.
