Description
The Chord CCB90-BK is our contemporary electric bass, built around a compact, contoured basswood body finished in black. The body shape is balanced and comfortable, whether you play it seated or standing, and it suits slap styles just as well as finger or pick playing. A bolted deep cut joint fixes the maple neck to the body, and the extended neck pocket helps give the instrument greater sustain.
The HPL rosewood fingerboard holds 24 large frets across an 865mm scale length, with a 41mm nut width. Up at the ultra-compact headstock you'll find four closed geared tuners that keep tuning stable and hold the profile small. For pickups, the CCB90 pairs a split coil humbucker with a single coil unit fitted with twinned polepieces. Two volume controls let you blend between the two pickups, and a single master tone rotary rounds out the wiring for quick adjustments.
Hardware includes a chrome plate bridge, and all woods are drawn from sustainable sources. The bass measures 315 x 1160 x 60mm and weighs 3.34kg, so it stays manageable over longer sessions. If you're after a straightforward, comfortable four-string that covers a wide range of playing techniques, the CCB90-BK is a sensible choice for practice rooms, rehearsals and stage work alike. Note that a fingerboard is sometimes called a fretboard, and both terms refer to the same part here.
