The Cherub WMT-565C brings together five tools in one unit: a metronome, tuner, sound reference, hygrometer and thermometer. It's aimed at wind instrument players who want a single device to keep their playing in time and in tune while also watching over the conditions their instrument lives in. The built-in rechargeable Li-Po battery (3.7V, 580mAh) saves you buying replacements, and at 105 x 65 x 15mm and 82g it slips easily into a case pocket.

Acoustic and wind instruments react to their surroundings, and humidity in particular can cause problems over time. The hygrometer and thermometer let you check the temperature and humidity of the room at a glance, so you can act before your instrument is affected. The readings sit in the upper right corner of the display in blue, which keeps them clear and separate from the tuning information. It's a practical way to look after an instrument between playing sessions.

The tuner covers A0 (27.4Hz) up to C8 (4186.0Hz), with an A4 reference adjustable from 430Hz to 450Hz and chromatic, F, Bb and Eb key settings. The metronome runs from 30 to 250bpm with beat types from 0 to 6. All of this shows on a large full-colour LCD that makes it easy to read whether you're high, low or on-tune. The bright screen means you can check your pitch quickly during practice without squinting at the display.
